DESCRIPTION:Zoom interviews\, Google Translate\, digital databases–ethnog
raphy in the 21st century looks a lot different than it used to. Each pane
list spent their summer conducting research from the mountains of Campania
\, Italy to the Ecuadorian Andes\, up to the Greater Boston Area and acros
s the Pacific to the China-Myanmar border. Anna Sophie learned about the c
onnections between oral traditions\, Indigenous identity\, and political a
gency for members of the Pueblo Kayambi. Eliza traveled through villages w
ith folk dances\, to volcanic regions with rich agricultural traditions an
d experienced museums with complex histories. N’Yshma’s journey was ba
sed on the changes within the poet's mood before and after mindfulness pra
ctices of yoga and meditation\, trauma informed dancing\, and yoga philoso
phy with self practice. Luming (Judy)’s research shows the complexity be
hind ethnic education from a political perspective and reveals the challen
ges for promoting local education development.\n\nPanel Moderator:\n\nJosh
