The African Art Music Conversation Series, directed by Bode Omojola, is a forum for African composers, performers, and scholars to discuss their experiences and expertise based on selected repertories
Dr. Ishaya Yarison holds a Ph.D. in music composition (University of Minnesota) and is on the faculty of St. Thomas University, St. Paul, Minnesota. Yarison is part of a group of composers of African descent who seek to promote African Art Music, a genre that highlights topics and themes from Africa. Yarison works in a variety of forms, including opera, instrumental and vocal music.
Dr. Miracle Amah, a soprano, holds a doctoral degree in vocal performance, pedagogy, and literature (James Madison University). She is an Assistant Professor of Music at Bradley University, Peoria, Illinois. Amah is one of the most visible performers of African vocal art music, exploring a diverse repertoire that includes opera, art song, and popular music.
Larry Schipull, Professor Emeritus at Mount Holyoke College, organist, harpsichordist, and fortepianist, has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in North America, Europe, the Caribbean, and Asia.
