 he 17th c. Over the next 150 years\, its melodic as well as virtuosic capa
 bilities inspired thousands of composers to write for the violin\, but mos
 t of this repertoire required at least one additional performer. What repe
 rtoire could a lone violinist\, with no friends to play with\, perform sat
 isfactorily?\n\nIn this 45-minute recital\, Dr. Allison Monroe (Director o
 f the Five College Early Music Program) offers a sampling of solo violin r
 epertoire from the baroque period\, including beloved pieces by famed comp
 osers like Bach and Biber as well as lesser known gems.\n\nWith a suggeste
 d donation of $10 per person\, all proceeds go to support the South Hadley
  Dog Park\, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a free p
 lace for dog owners from every walk of life to enjoy community and healthy
  exercise for their pets.
