Mount Holyoke College Studio Art Department and the Gaylord Memorial Library are pleased to present Altered Books, an exhibition showcasing artworks by students in the spring 2022 Painting 1 course taught by Associate Professor Lisa Iglesias.

Each artist cut, collaged, painted, drew within, and otherwise transformed de-acquisitioned books from the Gaylord Memorial Library, re-casting the texts into unique artist’s books. With an opening reception on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at 6:30 pm, the artworks are on view during open library hours between April 22 to April 30, 2022.

The Gaylord Memorial Library is open:

  • Thursdays 1–8 pm
  • Fridays 10 am–5 pm 
  • Saturdays 10 am–noon

The participating artists include Lea Berlin, Dekyi Deji, Tents Doma, Jieyu Feng, Glynnis Goff, Isabelle Hettlinger Bickford, Joan Kang, Maya Krantz, Maeve Kidd, Sofia Lopez Melgar, Kate Perrin, Olivia Protano, Grace Sanford, Christina Tiberii, Kendall Willis, and Gyeongmin Yoon.

Altered Books is organized by Amber Ladley, Adult Services Librarian at the Gaylord Memorial Library, and Lisa Iglesias, Associate Professor in the Art Studio Department at Mount Holyoke College.
