The Path to Sustainability: An Inclusive and Just Approach

The path to sustainability and to address climate change have often been framed in scientific language and a Western ideology. We’ll explore how this may have unintended consequences on the very issues environmentalists hoped to address. The first half of this lecture will examine the history of the environmental movement in the U.S., as well as environmental justice. During the second half, we will discuss how a new, more inclusive approach to environmental issues necessitates social justice and community building.
