Robin Blaetz
Emily Dickinson Professor of Film Studies
Location: Dwight 101

In this final lecture of her teaching career, Professor Robin Blaetz will consider this broad question. As the study of the cinema rises and falls in a precarious mode, even at a sophisticated institution such as Mount Holyoke, she will raise questions that inquire into what it is that we do when we watch a film, what it means to be entertained, and how entertainment functions in culture. She will end her lecture and her time at Mount Holyoke by revisiting the “Last Lecture” that she gave to students before their graduation in 2011 with an excerpt from the film, An American in Paris (Vincente Minnelli, 1951).
