The Opening Ceremony is a signature event for each heritage month.

The purpose of the 2026 Opening Ceremony is to celebrate a century of Black excellence by honoring the ancestral labor that planted our roots and showcasing the vibrant passions that continue to nurture and harvest our culture today.

Come celebrate with while enjoying Sweet Potato Pie, Banana Pudding, and Red Velvet Cookies, and MHC Black History Trivia. Prizes given to the top 3 winners!
