At first glance, our internships may seem wildly different – research in philosophy, environmental justice, and aerial acrobatics do not generally have significant overlap. While we may have all focused on different fields and very different objects of study, we all had relatively self-directed and independent internships – actively involved in shaping our timeline and goals for the summer. Each of our projects reflected our personal as well as academic interests. We will also discuss how each of us obtained our internships by seeking out professionals who would be willing to guide our work and provide feedback. Through this process, we developed a deeper understanding of our fields of interest while developing skills in time management, goal setting, and creating our own adventure.
