About this Event
During this event Aysha Baqir ’95 will talk to us about how her years in Mount Holyoke sparked an interest in developmental economics and shaped her initiative to found Kaarvan, a pioneering not-for-profit economic development organization working to alleviate poverty by providing business and marketing training to girls and women in low-income communities in Pakistan. We will hear about the current programs focused on value chain development, which move away from dependence. Aysha will also share the process of coming to, writing and publishing Beyond the Fields, as a way to celebrate the women in rural areas reached by Kaarvan. Presentation followed by a Q&A.
