This exhibition by the artist Jade Hoyer plays on how we conceive of interior and exterior spaces, of sweeping vistas and contained narratives.

Light entering the Mount Holyoke College Botanic Garden’s Talcott Greenhouse is diffused through translucent Philippine-inspired paper weavings and monoprint prints. Inspired by Hoyer’s experience in the American West, the printed and woven works offer tiny, abstracted portraits of “Big Sky” country, and examines how we connect to landscape and place.

Hoyer will speak about the creation of her work, and its installation and integration amongst the rich collection of cacti and succulents in the Talcott Greenhouse during the April 23 reception. Refreshments will be provided!

Artist Jade Hoyer explores environmental narratives through printmaking, papermaking, and social practice. Jade has been recognized by organizations such as the McKnight Foundation, the Windgate Foundation, and the Cultural Center of the Philippines. Her artwork is in collections including Texas Tech University’s Artist Printmaker Research Collection and the Association of Pinoy Printmakers, Philippines. The exhibition will run from April 21–May 21, 2026.

This exhibition and artist talk is supported by the Mount Holyoke Department of Art Studio, the office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, the Miller Worley Center for the Environment, the Mount Holyoke College Botanic Garden, the DEI Advisory Committee and Student Life. Programming is coordinated with Earth Week celebrations and AAANHPI Heritage Month.
