From museums and archives to medical offices and community-based collectives, our panel paved our own path of exploration and discovery through the various roles we held within our internships. Beginning with museums and community-based collectives, we start with Leslie, focusing on how interactive museum exhibits and community outreach enrich youth education. Next, Anya worked at the Museum of Innovation and Science (or miSci) in Schenectady, NY, creating finding aids of upstate NY based archival collections, metadata, and an online exhibit. Similarly, Essie interned position at a small Massachusetts historical society proof-reading the archival database, cataloguing artifacts, and curating a historical clothing exhibit. Lastly, Kara worked on an independent research project exploring the depth of identity through folklore and the public library system as developed through time. The organizations and communities we worked alongside provided us with hands-on learning experiences that broadened our perspectives across our individual fields of study.
