In our internships this summer, we worked across the U.S. on projects centered around creating spaces within communities. We felt dissatisfied with the transitional nature of our work and of the concept of an internship in general, specifically the way it felt odd to work so closely within a community for a summer, and then just pick up and leave. We each launched programming and projects related to childhood education, LGBTQ+ issues, neoliberal policies, community gardens, and caregiver resources. However, we all have passed these projects onto other people, whether they be the next round of interns, our supervisors, or other volunteers and staff. Still, this programming is a part of our legacy at these organizations. In this panel, we will present about our unforgettable experiences within the communities, as well as the skills we gained and thoughts we had about being transitional workers.
