About this Event
All around the world, children and adults engage with the educational system in many different capacities. This experience is further diversified by the country and culture in which the learning takes place. Over the summer, each panelist had an opportunity to experience working in the educational field, with students ranging from preschool to high school, and in different states and countries. Jiabao worked as an English Education Intern at Japan Women’s University (JWU) and taught a wide range of students, from kindergarten to university level, through the University’s many affiliated schools. Working in conjunction with Cape Cod Academy, an independent K-12 day school in Osterville, Massachusetts, Cameran designed a position that gave her an inside perspective of student activities, advancement, and educational leadership. Tallulah spent her summer overseeing four groups of American high school students during their study abroad program in the Dominican Republic. In addition to her supervisory role, she took charge of creating newsletters and managing social media accounts to keep everyone informed and connected throughout the experience. Xiomara interned as a Family Engagement Specialist at a summer enrichment program in Philadelphia, PA called Horizons. At Horizons, Xiomara assisted in teaching Social Emotional Learning classes and providing counseling services for students ranging Pre-k - 8th Grade. Our panel will discuss the diverse experiences we were a part of as educators, along with the achievements and challenges we encountered throughout our internship experiences.
