In this presentation, we will discuss our experiences with internships where we did historical research and hands-on archival work. Our internships included duties such as searching through archives for historical documentation, creating a more detailed and organized finding aid for an archive, using computer software tools to gather data, and working across organizations to unearth and commemorate buried history. Through our work we learned about career paths such as archivist, historical researcher, and museum studies, and whether we may, or may not, want to pursue those careers. At the end of our internships we had accomplished projects such as an exhibit displaying the evolution of the art history discipline at Mount Holyoke College, a more organized archive of historical documents, and a monument to Black suffragettes.
