This panel consists of students who had a range of experiences of working in education before their internships as educators working with youths. They will discuss their experiences, how they differ in their roles as educators, and how their environments shaped what they learned. Ally will discuss what it was like working alongside undervalued teachers at a childcare center and what they taught her about early education. Katelyn will discuss their experience working with the Maine Special Olympics and shaping her internship opportunity herself. Azalea will discuss her experience working in special education with students ranging from elementary to postsecondary school. Anfisa will discuss her experience working with toddlers at a daycare center and how it can provide a wide range of transferable skills and personal growth opportunities. Their aim as a group is to discuss their experiences holistically to show the variety of what educators can do.
