About this Event
5 Lower Lake Road, South Hadley, MA
The Examining Privilege staff/faculty discussion group meets biweekly to read and discuss current writing on racism and social justice in America, and works to incorporate anti-racism and anti-bias practices into our professional and personal lives.
For Fall 2024, we will be discussing the Common Read, I Never Thought of It That Way, by Mónica Guzmán. After seeing how politics can divide a nation, Guzmán set out to discover what blinds voters to other perspectives and found that curiosity is an underused tool.
Newcomers and drop-ins are always welcome! For more information or to join the email list, contact Cara clapenas@mtholyoke.edu or Janet jcrosby@mtholyoke.edu.
Our first meeting on Friday, September 13 will be a meet-and-greet, and from there we will set up the reading schedule.
Staff can pick up a free copy of the book at Staff Council's Common Read staff event in the Library atrium on Wednesday, September 11 from 12-2 pm.
