Over the summer, our panelists engaged in a variety of healthcare experiences. Each experience cultivated a passion for the healthcare field and deepened our understanding of research and healthcare systems within the United States. Our summers involved a diverse range of healthcare settings, starting with sports medicine and cardiology. Our first panelist spent the summer assisting with patient vitals, consults, and testing/imaging, gaining exposure to cardiac diagnostics and management. Our second panelist explored dental care through hands-on patient interactions, gaining insight into the balance between technical skill and compassion that defines effective dentistry. Our third panelist took a deep dive into the study of Arts In Medicine, and how patients expressing themselves in artistic ways could make their stressful experiences in hospitals more soothing. Finally, our last panelist spent the summer doing patient-facing clinic research, which included screening, consenting, and enrolling patients.
