The annual Hortense Parker Ceremony is the official ceremony honoring the legacy of the first known student of color to graduate from Mount Holyoke College and first African American to attend Mount Holyoke College. This event celebrates and inspires students, faculty, staff, and alum of color, both past and present. All are welcome to attend and join in this celebration.

This year's ceremony will include:

  • Keynote Address: "Demanding Better Care: On Community Organizing, Accountability, & Future-Making" by Alan Pelaez Lopez. In this talk, Alan will explore themes of community organizing and accountability, weaving their story as an artist and organizer to highlight the importance of care and support.
  • Student performances: Enjoy performances from various students.
  • People’s Choice Creation Contest Awards: You have the power to decide the winner! Cast your vote during the ceremony for your favorite submission, and the winners will be announced at the reception. 

A reception will immediately follow the ceremony, providing a space for connection and community.
