About this Event
This workshop is inspired by the late Monacan poet Karenne Wood’s critique of discovery and focuses on Indigenous peoples' activism and ongoing struggles to protect their homeland. The session explores critical conceptions of land in curricula with a specific emphasis on providing educators with anticolonial curricular alternatives. Participants will also gain a better understanding of how to support Indigenous' peoples movements.
Leilani Sabzalian (Alutiiq) is co-author of Teaching Critically About Lewis and Clark: Challenging Dominant Narratives in K–12 Curriculum.
