Wabanakeag: The Land of the Dawn

The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Teaching and Learning Initiative and the Division of Student Life will welcome Dr. Jus Crea Giammarino as a special guest speaker for our annual Indigenous Peoples Day Teach-In at Mount Holyoke.

Dr. Crea Giammarino's description of her talk:

"As a Penobscot native, we are Wabanaki, the people of the dawn, born of this land that we walk upon here in these Northeast woodlands. Our thousands of years of ancestral histories, stories and memories connects us to this place. We will discuss many aspects of the importance of maintaining and honoring these deep connections and relationships from a holistic viewpoint."
