Stop by to learn more about DIAL/SELF.
DIAL/SELF helps young people become independent by connecting them with housing, employment, education and civic opportunities. We believe that all youth possess unique strengths which are enhanced by community support and collaboration and that all youth should have the right to exercise choice in their own lives.
DIAL/SELF is a community-based non-profit agency that has been serving the youth and communities of Western MA since 1977. We provide a wide array of services that foster youth empowerment and community service. Over the course of the last four decades, more than 38,000 area youth have been served by the agency in Franklin, Hampshire and Hampden Counties and the North Quabbin Region.
Established in 1996, DIAL/SELF AmeriCorps partners with area schools and youth-serving agencies to create innovative full-time service opportunities throughout the Pioneer Valley of Western Massachusetts. We serve a geographic area that spans from Greenfield to Springfield, from rural to urban settings. For 10 months each academic year, DIAL/SELF AmeriCorps Members build meaningful relationships with young people that become the basis for learning and growth for all involved. Members use creative methods, positive youth development, and motivational interviewing to inspire young people's sense of self-efficacy and investment in their own learning.
DIAL/SELF AmeriCorps Members use a collaborative, student-centered approach to support young people's autonomy, belonging and personal learning aspirations. They use arts and experiential learning activities to create spaces where young people can develop meaningful goals, drive their own solutions, make decisions, fail, learn and grow.
