 'Secrecy is Toxic': Grassroots Responses to Sexual Violation in American Buddhism

Ann Gleig, Associate Professor at University of Central Florida and Amy Langenberg, Associate Professor at Eckerd College, will deliver the annual Jane Freeman Crosthwaite lecture on religion in American public life on " 'Secrecy is Toxic' : Grassroots Responses to Sexual Violation in American Buddhism"

Please be aware that Drs. Gleig and Langenberg will address the painful issue of sexual misconduct and abuse in American Buddhist communities. An excellent US national resource for survivors is RAINN: The National Sexual Assault Hotline (800-656-HOPE/4673). Students may also contact the Mount Holyoke College Counseling Service (413-538-2037) for an appointment or the 24/7 support line if the Counseling Service is closed. Students are also welcome to contact the chaplains and advisors from Religious and Spiritual Life staff of the Office of Community and Belonging.
