About this Event
Our panelists worked in policy nonprofits within higher education institutions as researchers and administrative assistants. They learned about corporate work culture in fast-paced environments, while the organizations they interned at adapted to post-pandemic challenges, ranging from hybrid work structures to major cuts in funding. At MIT’s Washington Office, Hening Sun and Lasya Priya Rao Jarugumili attended briefings, hearings, and policy discussions at the US Congress, government agencies, higher education associations and think tanks, synthesizing points of discussion for the Office of the President at MIT. Hening’s research focused on China’s data governance policy and its impact on cross-border data trade, while Lasya researched the impact of disinformation on democracy. At the Center for Women in Politics and Public Policy at UMass Boston, Gus was responsible for organizing events and writing about the organization’s policy work, alums, and events for multiple mediums of communication.
