Neutrino Physics with Liquid Argon
Tuesday, November 12 • Cleveland L3
Snacks at 4:30 pm, talk begins at 4:45 pm
Current and future neutrino experiments at Fermilab use the LArTPC technology. LArTPC stands for Liquid Argon Time Projection Chamber, and this technology allows us to have a very detailed view and precise information of neutrino interactions with liquid argon. In this talk, Dr. Nunes will present the work she has been doing related to a few different neutrino detectors and how a normal person (Mônica!) is contributing to the future of neutrino physics.
All students (of any major or class year!) are invited to join Dr. Nunes for lunch. Please RSVP at this link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfcT8peYIFuGS0COkEULBnEhixto12y3b49Z7Qzdsb9VUpxVA/viewform
Monica Nunes holds a Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD in Physics from the University of Campinas (Unicamp), Brazil. She completed her postdoctoral research at Syracuse University, focusing on the construction of the Short Baseline Near Detector (SBND). Currently, she is an Applications Physicist at Fermilab, focusing on her roles as SBND’s Operations Coordinator and the DUNE Cold and Warm Lab Coordinator.
