About this Event
A talk by Nicole Berlin, Assistant Curator of Collections, the Davis Museum at Wellesley College.
This talk explores three case studies (i.e. three houses) that were originally built in the Late Hellenistic period then renovated in the Roman Imperial period. Nicole considers wall painting, architecture, and mosaics to understand how Sicilian homeowners negotiated between the island's rich tradition of native Hellenism and the island's incorporation into the Roman Empire.
