Panel Title: Interdisciplinary Pathways in Scientific Research: Bridging Theory, Data, and Care
Panel Moderator: TBD
This panel highlights interdisciplinary undergraduate research across clinical, computational, and behavioral sciences. Panelists contributed to diverse projects, including pediatric endocrinology research at Michigan Medicine examining inflammatory markers in adolescents and murine models to assess diabetes risk; clinical intervention at the University of Washington’s APEX Summer Camp implementing CBT and ABA strategies for neurodiverse youth; global infectious disease work at UNC Chapel Hill supporting HIV and Lassa fever studies; and mathematical research on topological data analysis of dynamical billiards at Mount Holyoke College. These experiences involved collaboration with clinicians, researchers, and peers, and developed skills in data analysis, coding, scientific writing, and evidence-based care. Together, the projects reflect a commitment to rigorous, hands-on learning and the integration of theory and practice across scientific disciplines. This panel offers insights into how applied undergraduate research can shape emerging scholars and inform their professional and academic trajectories.
