Widely recognized as one of the best Russian poets living today, Polina Barskova has been described as a poet "of stunning originality and eroticism." Her books of poetry translated into English include "This Lamentable City" (2010) and "Relocations" (2015). She is also the author of the archival project that resulted in "Written in the Dark: Five Poets in the Siege of Leningrad" (2016), an anthology of work written during the 1941-1945 siege. Her most recent book is "Besieged Leningrad: Aesthetic Responses to Urban Disaster" (2017), a study of the cultural and literary representations of spatiality in besieged Leningrad.
