Quantitative Research across Disciplines: Maths/Stats in Class vs. Research

In this panel, we will cover different disciplines of research and give our audience some advice on how to find a research opportunity, and utilize this experience to pave the way for future studies and career explorations. We want to show our audience the variety of applicational potential for Mathematics and Statistics in fields that are unconventional to the laymen, such as analyzing music, competitive sailing, customized cancer treatment, and algorithm developments. We will also introduce research in theoretical mathematics, such as “Analytic Number Theory” and “Combinatorics”, involving finding patterns then proving them using mathematical theorems.
