In partnership with the National Women’s Studies Association and the Weissman Center for Leadership, the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Mount Holyoke welcomes back Activist, Artist and Author Tourmaline will return to Mount Holyoke for a virtual conversation with Activist and Attorney, Dean Spade. The two will reflect on Tourmaline’s first book, Marsha: The Joy and Defiance of Marsha P. Johnson with a focus on resistance in the face of violent oppression and finding space for love and joy as an act of defiance. 

About the book: Black transgender luminary Tourmaline brings to life the first definitive biography of the revolutionary activist Marsha P. Johnson, one of the most important and remarkable figures in LGBTQIA+ history, revealing her story, her impact, and her legacy.
