Russian Film Series: "Sadko"

This is a past event.

Join us for a Russian Department tradition! Based upon ancient legends from the old Russian city of Novgorod, this tale focuses on Sadko, a young gusli player who brags that he can bring to the land a sweet-voiced bird of happiness. On his quest to bring the bird to Novgorod, Sadko is offered help by the daughter of the Ocean King who is mesmerized by Sadko's singing and falls in love with him. Though he visits many lands in his search of the bird, Sadko fails in his quest and returns empty handed. But on his return to Novgorod, Sadko realizes that there is no better land than his homeland, and there is no need to go far in search of one's happiness.
