About this Event
In this celebration of mentorship that started in 2005, students of color honor mentors who have helped them succeed. The ceremony is both a celebration and a moment for reflection.
It is an opportunity for the seniors to name (and thank!) a mentor who played a key role in their persistence to graduation (i.e., advisor, dining staff, facilities staff, faculty, residential life staff, administrative staff, coach). The heart of the program is the moment of gratitude as the mentor presents the student with a stole (kente or satin), and the student offers the mentor a flower in exchange.
Graduating seniors who would like to participate in the ceremony must complete the Stoling Ceremony submission form by Friday, April 12, 11:59pm EDT so please do not wait to submit your form!
NOTE: Rehearsal for the ceremony will be Thursday, May 22, 9 am in Chapin Auditorium. You must attend the rehearsal in order to participate in the ceremony. NO EXCEPTIONS.
If you have trouble with the form, you can also send your name, your mentor's info, and the statement about your mentor directly to students-of-color-committee-g@mtholyoke.edu or community-belonging@mtholyoke.edu.
