About this Event
The Miller Worley Center for the Environment’s Summit on Women’s Leadership and Climate Justice is a welcoming space for all genders and non-binary people seeking to celebrate the accomplishments and vision of women in the field of climate justice. While there has been increased attention to the issue of climate change and climate justice over the past few years, the role women and non-binary people have played in this field deserves recognition. This three day event will provide opportunities to learn from leading global and local scholars, community organizers, and entrepreneurs including Dr. Katharine Hayhoe, Chief Scientist for the Nature Conservancy; Kat Cadungog, Executive Director of the Foundation for Environmental Stewardship; and Tamara Toles O'Laughlin, Founder of Climate Critical Earth.
The Summit, hosted on Mount Holyoke College’s campus in South Hadley, Massachusetts, the ancestral land of the Nonotuck people, will feature intellectually engaging conversations with experts on the topics of climate refugees and migration, the built environment, innovation in sustainability, and the need for arts and humanities in the climate movement. In addition to keynotes and panels, we will be hosting an in-person networking reception, a student poster presentation and a Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) LAB workshop with certification opportunities as part of the full Summit experience. Certification is also possible through online participation.
Conscious of carbon emissions associated with travel, our global speakers will be joining us virtually while local panelists will be in person. This hybrid event also provides multiple options for people interested in attending either physically or remotely.
If you have any questions, please contact the Miller Worley Center.
