Join us for a nationwide day of action in defense of #TeachBannedBooks, #RightToLearn and #DefendLGBTQRights at Mount Holyoke College.

We will screen the film Banned Together, an incredible documentary that follows three students and their adult allies as they fight to reinstate 97 books suddenly pulled from their school libraries. Following the screening of the film, we will dialogue and reflect on the significance of resisting book bans. We will also briefly explore the history and significance of Juneteenth as part of the Zinn Education Project’s focus on Legalizing Black Education. This will be a lunch and learn format where we will distribute banned books to all participants.

The event is free and open to the public and especially students, faculty, staff and alum affiliated with the Five College Consortium. Lunch will be provided.

This is a collaborative event sponsored by Odyssey Bookshop, Library Information and Technology Services (LITS) and the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
