"Tevya" (1939) is a classic Yiddish film, directed by and starring Maurice Schwartz as Tevya, the hero of Sholem Aleichem's stories that form the basis of this film and were also the source material for "Fiddler on the Roof".

This memorable adaptation of Sholem Aleichem's play centers on Khave, Tevye the Dairyman's daughter, who falls in love with Fedye, the son of a Ukrainian peasant.

This screening is part of "Yiddish Nation: Language as Homeland" (JWST-218/GRMST-231), but is open to anyone on campus interested in watching this classic film.
