About this Event
11 Park Street, South Hadley, MA
Shifting political landscapes, rise of fascist rule, and unrelenting war come with the threat of not just temporary censorship, but the complete destruction of materials. Current academic and cultural mindsets demand an expansion of perspectives. Archivists must be mindful of creating a broad scope of knowledge while also keeping in mind that archival records now exist beyond the physical realm and hold a place in the digital world. This is not just an issue of preserving U.S. history and movements, but a larger effort of preserving international histories that are under threat of disappearing. There is a need to acknowledge the global repercussions that national issues cause, and all those who are affected. It is a need to make the invisible visible, and to curb the threats that attempt to suppress these stories. The saturation of the digital now demands more inclusivity, more knowledge, and wider narratives than previous methods considered or allowed.
