About the panelists:
Sharyanne McSwain ’84: Sharyanne McSwain is Echoing Green’s chief operating officer. She joined the organization with more than 30 years of experience in financial services and business operations, working in nonprofit management, financial engineering, financial services marketing and municipal finance.
At Echoing Green, Sharyanne oversees all aspects of the organization’s internal management and administrative systems, supporting the finance, operations, communications, human resources, and programs teams. Most recently, the launch of the organization’s Racial Equity Philanthropic Fund and related programs focused on advancing racial equity has given her the opportunity to dive deep into the continuous restructuring of the organization’s goals to align with and amplify Echoing Green’s mission to build a more just, equitable and sustainable world for all.
Before joining Echoing Green, Sharyanne served as chief financial and administrative officer at StoryCorps, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and sharing humanity’s stories, many of which are featured on its NPR radio broadcast. In addition, she had a successful career in international financial services and business operations, working for over 30 years on investment banking teams in New York, Japan and France. Sharyanne was the lead banker on the creation of the first U.S.-based structured investment vehicle with assets totaling $5 billion, and her multicurrency, multinational receivables asset securitization won accolades from the International Financing Review.
Sharyanne received a master of business administration from INSEAD in France and earned a bachelor of arts in urban studies from Mount Holyoke College. She is an active alum at both institutions, having served in board roles. Additionally, she serves on the boards of several nonprofits, including Airbnb.org and Aide et Actions. Currently residing in Brooklyn, Sharyanne spends her free time tending her roof garden and collecting art.
Ivelisse Berio LeBeau ’87: Ivelisse Berio LeBeau is an attorney with 30 years of experience in employment and employee benefits law. She served as a trial attorney for the U.S. Department of Labor during the time when her children were born. Ivelisse has worked for large, small and boutique private law firms and currently works as general counsel for a midsized employee benefits administration company. Additionally, she served as the editor in chief of the last printed version of the legal treatise titled “Employee Benefits Law,” published by Bloomberg Law. Ivelisse has worked with both employees and employers in a variety of employment and employee benefits matters. She has also been an employee in both the public and private sectors and for different-sized organizations. She lives in Miami, where she has had the opportunity to meet Mount Holyoke Posse students over the years.
