A premiere screening of Bennie, a senior thesis film by Shelby H. Smith.

"Bennie," a dark comedy-horror short film. Two queer artists, Bennie and Lee, navigate making a “lesbian coming-of-age” film at the hands of a cis-het male director with questionable motives.

Shelby Smith worked in coordination with over 40 Mount Holyoke Students across a full year to create their 20-minute thesis film. With the department's film equipment at their disposal, this film features the work of many students looking to gain more hands-on set experience. These students performed key roles under the guidance of department heads in advanced production classes with past experience working on professional film sets.

Guest Speakers will include:

  • Jay Doane - "Bennie Jetson"
  • Natalie Werthamer - "Lee Hammer"
  • Isaiah Woods - "David Jacobs"
  • Shelby Smith - Director, Writer, Editor, Producer
  • Yilan Song - Director of Photography
  • Jesse Hausknecht Brown - Assistant Director, Sound, Editor
  • Oak Pryanichnikova - Lead Makeup Artist, Propmaster
