At Mount Holyoke, faculty have a deep commitment to advising work with students.

Advising work is described as a type of our teaching and learning work with students. Like effective teaching, effective advising requires a conceptual and theoretical framework. Appreciative advising, the application of appreciative inquiry, is a useful strength-based and student focused approach to advising. In this conversation, we'll talk about the Appreciative Advising framework and consider the relevance and applicability within the academic advising context at Mount Holyoke. Specifically, we will consider: How does AA support advisors within the advising relationship (as well as students)?; and, How AA can support student engagement in critical reflection?
