This summer, each of us explored different ways computer science interacts with real-world problems, from mathematical research to software development. While our projects spanned different contexts, they shared a focus on using computation and creative problem-solving to make the systems and products more efficient and meaningful. We each focused on bringing to life ideas that would prevail in the long run by automating marketplace expansion processes, marketing an AI product, applying computation to explore theoretical ideas such as dissecting a square, and finally deploying features to enhance user experience. Each of us has had the opportunity to work both individually and collaboratively during our internship or research, with some members being the only female in their tepm, giving us the opportunity to challenge ourselves, reflect, and explore the field from various perspectives.
