From the forests of Germany to a historic house museum in Connecticut, a lab in Texas, and even our very own Clapp basement, each panelist navigated a new environment while learning to work independently on projects that help us understand our past and contribute to our future. We may be used to considering sciences and arts separately, but these individual projects have shown us the innumerable and interwoven connections between the disciplines. Devin and Ava’s projects allowed them to consider how science relies on creativity, while Tara and Charlotte’s projects showed them how a scientific approach to the arts preserves our history for future generations. Our contributions to these ongoing projects are important stepping stones that will be continued by our summer colleagues and beyond.
