The Purpose of the Zowie Banteah Cultural Center
The Zowie Banteah Cultural Center, commonly known as “the Zowie”, promotes visibility and empowerment for Native American and communities of Indigenous people by providing space for dialogue, interaction, and community in the Mount Holyoke College community. Seen as a home away from home for many students, the Zowie welcomes all, while centering the voices and lived experiences of Indigenous peoples by hosting weekly community drop-in/ open hours; programs such as movie nights, dialogues, poetry readings, and much more.
Those who cannot attend can participate in the historic event by submitting reflections on the Zowie Banteah Cultural Center and/or the MHC cultural centers.
